Amaaazing ribs!  Memphis dry rub was great, and the chicken was so moist! The service was very friendly and both my sister and I felt like we were visiting friends rather than eating out.  I will admit when we first walked in I wasn't sure about staying, but I'm glad I did.  It is definiitely a new favorite. - Adrian C. Their food is unbelievably good.  The brisket is melt-in-your-mouth wonderful, the sauce is perfectly smoky & sweet. This is a family-owned joint that offers a waaaay old-school vibe.  It's not fancy by any means & reminds me a lot of the old family dining joints of the early 80s.   - Duane F. Oakland, CA

Maybe it is hit and miss, but I must have hit.  My wife and I always pass this place going home and last night decided to finally check it out.  Its not the cheapest place, but the BBQ is really good.  Everything is made from scratch.  Its Memphis style BBQ, it does not come drenched in BBQ sauce.  The cornbread was really fresh for us and the BBQ beans were wonderful.   This place is not your typical OC joint, it actually has character and personality. Dry rub BBQ.  This is no Tony Romos.  This is a true BBQ place. - Dave H. Dana Point, CA

Wow, that rib joint...THE RIB JOINT. What is there to say that isn't already in the title? Ribs + joints = a good time! But really people, this ain't yo mama's rib joint...unless it is. In which case I think she was my waitress. Good for us. At first I thought, I might die here. It's just the general feeling I got. Once I just kinda "gave in" it was all uphill. You're eating like it's your last meal, and you dig it. I had chicken. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!! Take the best chicken you've ever had, now add 10 points. wowoweeeee. - Diego M. Waltham, MA

I can confirm the sentiments of a few other reviewers, this place has character.  And, its a welcome change from the trendy, look-at-me establishments that have saturated Orange County.  This is a blue collar joint.  The bar is old school, as are the booths.  We found the bartender and waitress to be very helpful and the service was efficient.  - Jordan C. - Washington, DC

You're not coming here for the ambiance, so relax & enjoy the amazing food. The barbecue is good.  Nothing to write home about, but this is Southern California, not Memphis or Kansas City, so you have to keep things in perspective.  Regardless, the food is good and its a great change of pace from most Orange County restaurants. - Lisa M. Roadhouse Poem

Went down to the Rib for a couple of beers,
Bartender's named Sam, like the guy in Cheers.
On Tuesday night the bar is tended by Leslie,
Sometimes she sings like Elvis Presley.
Sometimes it’s White on guitar, sometimes it’s Rice,
Either way, the music’s pretty nice.
On Wednesday night, come hear the Dupp Brothers play.
They got three guys playing guitar and Cousin Mae,
A stand-up bass and a mandolin,
Washboard and harp if Rob is in.
They play country, blue grass, and the blues.
That’s CBGB, if you choose.
Thursday night it’s all Chris Cramm,
He’s a one man oxy-Mormon jamin' band.
On the corner of Desolation Row and Highway 61,
They start at eight, by twelve they’re done.
They’re playing tunes at the old Rib Joint,
At the southern tip of Dana Point.
So come on down and have a drink
Have some fun. What do you think?
Yes, come on down and sit a spell,
There’s smokin’ outside (no one will tell).
